Implants

Dental implants are a great treatment option for the replacement of missing teeth and seen as the standard of care for teeth replacement. Implants are a popular choice to replace missing teeth because they offer more security and stability than dentures and do not affect the adjacent teeth as is necessary with a bridge. Additionally, they look and functions very similarly to your natural teeth.

Before receiving a dental implant, prospective patients must first meet a few requirements. Because the implant is inserted and attached to your facial bones, you must have sufficient bone as well as healthy gums in the area of implant placement. Also, it is necessary to have a strong enough immune system to withstand the surgery. If you meet all of these prerequisites, we can start the implant procedure, which is usually completed in multiple parts. A titanium implant will be surgically placed, which is then followed by a healing period where the bone grows around the implant and integrates it. This usually takes place over a three- month period, although it is sometimes less. At your follow-up visit, an abutment is screwed into the implant and we will take molds and measurements, which are then sent out to a lab where a natural looking crown is made. Once this is completed, we will either permanently cement or screw the crown onto the abutment at your final visit, and you will have a brand new tooth that blends in with all your others.
